Job Summary

Serve as a strategic and analytical leader who oversees key programs and strategic initiatives. Serve as a key deputy and work in close consultation with the leadership. Provide oversight for areas that include administrative operations; communication, marketing and events, academic analytics, development, data and assessment, and strategic planning. Support staff development and inclusion, coordinate various advisory boards and collaborate on new programs, services, and initiatives. Perform special assignments and lead projects as requested. Responsible for establishing group/departmental/division goals, determining the resources needed to meet those goals, assessing group/departmental/division performance feedback, and making pay decisions. This position will interact on a regular basis with: Staff and executive leadership. This position typically will advise and counsel: leadership, staff, and executive leadership offices. This position will supervise: Assigned staff.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Collaborate with directors and other staff/faculty on the development of services and programs, projects, and initiatives.

Job Duty 2 -
Research, design, write, and edit project reports to internal and external entities. Prepare annual reports and other submissions; compile or prepare additional reports as needed.

Job Duty 3 -
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Duty 4 -
Supervise professional staff and oversee and coordinate with leadership on their efforts regarding day-to-day operations (including, finance/budget), marketing and events, data and assessment, and strategic planning.

Job Duty 5 -
Perform higher-level executive tasks, including chairing meetings/work groups/committees, documenting/taking notes for meetings that include sensitive/confidential information, preparing analyses, and conducting research to benchmark performance and develop recommendations.

Job Duty 6 -
Support professional development committee and professional development funding. Plan town hall events, research, design, write, and edit project reports to internal and external entities. Prepare annual reports and other submissions; compile or prepare additional reports as needed. leadership retreats, and other events and activities.

Job Duty 7 -
Serve as a key point of contact for directors/leadership that require escalation in coordination with other leadership for Administrative Operations. Identify key issues, conduct research, manage follow-up, and make appropriate referrals to other offices as needed.

Job Duty 8 -
Coordinate communications with leadership and Communications, in a manner consistent with the College and Institute communication style.

Job Duty 9 -
Supervise and coordinate strategic planning, implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement effort across the division in coordination with leadership. Ensure alignment of assessment plans and reports with Institute requirements.

Job Duty 10 -
Supervise and coordinate strategies across the Institute in coordination with leadership. This includes Georgia Tech's Strategic Plan as well as a range of University System of Georgia initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience
Ten or more years of job-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Project Management Certification.

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree or Doctorate.

Preferred Experience
5 years of previous leadership experience at the director or above level within an academic or student affairs programmatic area/unit in a research university, including supervision of professional staff.

Additional Job Responsibilities:
Position will report to the Dean of the College
Track and report progress on strategic goals
Represent and communicate the Dean's priorities to stakeholders.
Serve as a liaison between the Dean and Institute partners.
Advise leadership on strategic issues and decisions.
Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships.
Assess and improve the effectiveness of the Office of the Dean.
Identify and mitigate risks impacting College priorities.
Develop reports, presentations, proposals, and briefings.
Manage special projects and initiatives assigned by the Dean

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and consistently meet deadlines. Ability to establish effective working relationships to accomplish objectives, an expert in working both independently and in a team environment. Ability to lead and implement strategic planning initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE
Broad understanding of undergraduate education and academic programs preferably within a research university. Project management and strategic planning experience. Understanding and fluently using data and analytics to inform decision making. Demonstrated understanding of Finance and HR practices within higher education setting.

SKILLS
Experience with Qualtrics or comparable survey design software. Ability to translate and explain data. Advanced knowledge of MS Office platforms (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) to produce high-quality, professional documents, reports, analyses, infographics, and presentations. Proactive decision-making and problem-solving skills to respond to high-pressure situations. Excellent customer service skills with proven knowledge of how to work effectively and professionally with all levels of internal and external stakeholders on complex issues and problems. Exceptional organizational skills and attention-to-detail.
