Job Title: Database Administrator 3

Job Summary
A government agency is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator III to support enterprise applications with complex data models, workflows, and reporting requirements. The selected candidate will administer, optimize, secure, and migrate Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases within Azure/AWS cloud environments while working in an Agile Scrum team. This role focuses on database architecture, performance tuning, disaster recovery, security, and Oracle-to-Azure SQL migrations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain enterprise Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases.
  • Design, develop, and maintain logical and physical database models.
  • Perform Oracle to Azure SQL database migrations, including schema conversions.
  • Convert Oracle Stored Procedures, Functions, and database objects to Azure SQL.
  • Optimize database performance through indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Monitor database health, performance, capacity, and availability.
  • Implement backup, recovery, replication, clustering, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Configure high availability and load balancing environments.
  • Manage database security, encryption, user access, and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain database standards, policies, and technical documentation.
  • Support ETL processes for loading and transforming enterprise data.
  • Troubleshoot database issues and resolve production incidents.
  • Collaborate with Java development teams supporting cloud-hosted applications.
  • Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies and support CI/CD deployment activities.
  • Ensure database solutions comply with accessibility and enterprise standards.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of database administration experience.
  • 8+ years administering Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server (or equivalent RDBMS).
  • 8+ years of relational database administration experience.
  • 8+ years of database design, data modeling, analysis, and performance tuning.
  • 8+ years designing enterprise applications or enterprise database solutions.
  • 8+ years creating technical and functional design documentation.
  • 8+ years working within Agile Scrum software development environments.
  • 8+ years supporting multi-tier enterprise applications, SOA, Microservices, or 3-tier architectures.
  • Strong expertise in:

  • Experience with DevOps tools, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with Java/J2EE enterprise applications.
  • Azure Certification.
  • Oracle or Microsoft DBA certifications.
