Synagro is seeking a Class A CDL Driver to operate a tractor-trailer with end-dump trailers supporting a customer operation in the Gurnee, Illinois area.

This position involves dedicated local hauling routes, allowing drivers to return home daily. The schedule is primarily Monday through Friday, with responsibilities including picking up, transporting, and unhooking trailers throughout the day.

This work supports a local municipal wastewater treatment facility and offers competitive compensation. Hours spent operating the semi-truck are paid at prevailing wage rates, including applicable fringe benefits. Drivers can also expect regular wage increases in accordance with prevailing wage adjustments.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Safely operate a Class A commercial vehicle with end-dump trailers
  • Perform local haul assignments and trailer exchanges throughout the workday
  • Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Comply with all DOT regulations and company safety policies

Essential Functions:



  • Safely operate a Class A commercial vehicle and end-dump trailers at all times.
  • Perform dedicated local hauling assignments associated with a municipal wastewater treatment facility.
  • Pick up, transport, stage, and unhook trailers throughout the workday.
  • Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and daily vehicle inspections.
  • Complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs), electronic logs, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
  • Comply with all DOT regulations, company policies, and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Ensure loads are transported safely, legally, and efficiently.
  • Maintain assigned equipment in a clean and professional condition.
  • Secure tarps, tailgates, and other equipment before transporting materials.
  • Follow all environmental and safety procedures when loading, transporting, or unloading material.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with customers, municipal personnel, and coworkers.
  • Represent Synagro professionally through safe driving practices and exceptional customer service.


Position Requirements:



  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Ability to meet DOT physical requirements and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, dispatch, customers, and team members.
  • Ability to complete required paperwork and electronic records accurately.
  • Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Willingness to occasionally work overtime as operational needs require.

Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to climb on and off tractor-trailers safely.
  • Ability to connect and disconnect trailers, airlines, and hydraulic lines.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work from elevated surfaces when necessary.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, twist, and reach during inspections and trailer operations.
  • Ability to secure tarps and perform routine equipment checks.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.
  • Ability to safely perform all essential functions while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).


Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Class A CDL required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of tractor-trailer driving experience preferred.
  • End-dump trailer experience preferred, but training may be provided for qualified candidates.
  • Clean driving record and ability to meet company insurance requirements.
  • Strong safety record and commitment to regulatory compliance.


Compensation

Hours spent operating a commercial vehicle are paid at the applicable Lake County prevailing wage rate, including fringe benefits.

Training, meetings, and other non-driving hours are compensated at $28.50 per hour.
