Job Summary

Prepares, documents and disburses payroll checks, payroll taxes and employee benefit payments. Evaluates current systems, and recommends and develops operating efficiency improvements. Monitors and ensures proper documentation of employee benefit payments. Prepares reports illustrating payroll expenditures, including such items as tax payments and benefit plan disbursements.


Essential Duties

  • Execute end-to-end payroll processing tasks, encompassing activities like managing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments, accurately calculating and documenting payroll deductions, and facilitating requests for paycheck advances.
  • Prepares accounting transactions and documents, records and updates procedures, and prepares specials reports for management on or before due dates.
  • Manage the complete in-house payroll cycle, encompassing tax calculations and meticulous validation of all payroll data to adhere to processing timelines.
  • Contacts customers to obtain required wages and applicable fringe benefit information to support the creation of certified payroll reports required by either law or contractual documents. Corresponds as needed with customers to research and resolve payroll issues.
  • Follows the existing payroll processing system and changes in basic wage and tax laws as well as the Davis Bacon Act.
  • Alerts management to payroll issues in a timely manner, allowing management to quickly make business decisions while potentially minimizing the financial impact.
  • Maintains project files regarding prevailing wages and applicable issues. Manages payroll related records recording the accumulations and use of vacations, holidays, sick days and miscellaneous leaves of absence.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

2 to 5 years of experience in payroll processing or accounting roles.

Excellent understanding of the DOL wage/hour compliance statutes and familiarity with OFCCP processes.
Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices.
Knowledge of legislation and regulations of the field.
Proficient in MS Office and relevant software.
Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality.
Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills.
