Security Studies Tenure-Track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Security Studies in the Department of Defense Analysis, The Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA. The Defense Analysis Department at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California, is seeking to fill a tenure-track position, open as to rank, in Security Studies. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to pursue an independent program of innovative, high-quality research in areas such as national and international security, future warfare, conflict studies, terrorism, insurgency, political violence, artificial intelligence and conflict, innovation, or strategic decision-making. The candidate must have an interest in interdisciplinary research and willingness to work with a cross-disciplinary faculty and military and policy stakeholders. The Defense Analysis Department (DA) provides the critical thinking and analytical skills necessary for national security leaders to deal with the complexities and challenges of current and future operating and strategic environments. DA offers an M.S. in Defense Analysis with degree tracks in special operations and irregular warfare, applied design for innovation, and information strategy and political warfare, along with graduate certificates in social network analysis and special operations and regional governance. Home to 150 in-residence graduate students, forty members of a cross-disciplinary teaching and research faculty, and five research centers (high-performance computing lab, social network analysis lab, regional affairs and terrorism research center, information strategy center, and a maker space). DA faculty publish in top journals (e.g., American Political Science Review, Journal of Military History), university book presses (e.g., Cambridge and Chicago) and policy outlets (e.g. War on the Rocks, The Conversation), receive fellowships (e.g., Fullbright, Guggenheim), obtain external funding (e.g., DOD, NSF), earn association scholarship awards (e.g., Society for Military History, American Political Science Association), are recognized for teaching excellence, and work directly with US and global national security leaders.
