The Critical Resources Specialist, assists the Interior Production and Sales teams in the following areas, parts and material ordering, plating, various flammability duties, interior research and financial reviews. Preferred candidates will possess the following qualities: customer service, self-starter, multitasking and organizational skills, and an interest in aviation interiors. It is expected that they maintain a safe and organized work area and completes appropriate documentation in a timely manner.

With minimal assistance, facilitates parts, materials and plating, and various flammability duties for assigned projects, and will support other specialists on critical resources team when needed.

1. Working with or as Qualified Inspector (QI), pulls plugs for SUB Inspections; determines similar substrates; signs off vertical burn squawks when projects are complete. Advises teams on maintenance burns as questions arise.

2. Coordinates with MRA Coordinator to develop a schedule for MRA , STC and EASA burns, this includes coordinating when each revision of the Test Article drawing will be completed, when samples for each revision will be submitted and tested.

3. Builds samples and creates FTR's from TA drawings.

4. Works with engineering team to ensure all required samples are captured on the drawing and milestone dates are met for the release of the drawing.

5. Delivers copies of the drawings to team leaders for redlining and works with shop leads to ensure drawings match what is going in the aircraft. Redlines the Bill of Material (BOM) for drawings from engineering team.

6. Updates the Sample ID Chart as needed with new buildups or new lot numbers for existing buildups for PUT lengths. Develops new substrate information and manages SER entry on Sample ID Chart.

7. Manages burn build up fabrication and handling. Manages all core projects requiring burns to insure tests are complete well before delivery.

8. Researches and orders parts and equipment for projects to be routed to delivery areas, per the respective work order. Maintains accurate inventory list of received and pending parts.

9. Monitors, tracks and follows up on parts that are needed for in-process and future work orders to ensure adequate parts are available. Communicates with sales and engineering teams to determine what parts are on order for upcoming jobs. Works with the material services team and team leaders to expedite parts and equipment deliveries.

10. Coordinates with team leaders and project managers to close open purchase orders to help expedite the billing process at the end of the job. Communicates and coordinates with Return Goods Administrator concerning parts accounting, control and return of parts, cores and materials for proper credit, tracking and input to the aircraft project work orders.

11. Reviews past parts usage and recommends new stock items to the material services team for supplying stock items.

12. Communicates with the team leaders, sales, engineering, material services and other internal and external customers to resolve parts issues. Recommends updates and revisions to enhance and streamline the inventory computer systems and user features.

13. Processes plating and rotables for shipping and receiving.

14. Delivers world-class customer service to gain our customers' trust and ensure they have a positive experience. Accomplishes great customer service by displaying clear communication skills, attentiveness, patience, positivity and remaining goal oriented/focused.

15. Researches, prepares, and signs off various documents for record keeping purposes as required by Duncan Aviation approved procedures, manufacturers' maintenance manuals, and FAA regulations (i.e. turnovers, removal sheets, flammability testing, W.O. Sheets, personal training log, and other work order related documents supporting the review squawks and expected hours).

16. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Job Specific Requirements



  • Licenses/Certificates: Qualified Inspector (QI); Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; Respirator Fit qualified
  • Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required
  • Physical: Routinely lifts 50 lbs., occasionally 100 lbs.; reads small print; hears sounds associated with mechanical deficiencies; repetitive motion; works with moving parts and vibration; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet; tolerates products and materials associated with component maintenance; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting
  • Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments


Education and Experience

Critical Resource Specialist I



  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Minimum one year aviation interiors experience or equivalent required
  • Proficiency with general computer skills including basic knowledge of Microsoft Software (i.e. Word, Excel, Word, etc.) and AS400


Critical Resource Specialist II



  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Minimum two years aviation interiors experience or equivalent required
  • Proficiency with general computer skills including basic knowledge of Microsoft Software (i.e. Word, Excel, Word, etc.) and AS400


Critical Resource Specialist III



  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Minimum four years aviation interiors experience or equivalent required
  • Proficiency with general computer skills including basic knowledge of Microsoft Software (i.e. Word, Excel, Word, etc.) and AS400
