Position Overview

The Manager, Strategic Finance serves as a key strategic partner to the Chief Financial Officer, leading high-impact finance, accounting, revenue, and operational initiatives across the organization. Rather than overseeing a traditional department, this role is responsible for tackling the company's most important financial and business challenges, building scalable solutions, and implementing sustainable processes that drive long-term results.

This position offers a unique blend of technical accounting, financial analysis, revenue optimization, process improvement, systems transformation, and cross-functional project leadership. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys solving complex business problems, and wants the opportunity to see projects through from concept to implementation.

Working closely with Accounting, FP&A, Operations, Technology, Sales, and Client Success teams, this individual will influence decision-making through data-driven analysis, business insight, and execution excellence.

What You'll Do Strategic Finance & Special Projects
  • Partner directly with the CFO to lead high-priority finance and operational initiatives.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects spanning accounting, revenue, reporting, process improvement, and business analytics.
  • Translate complex or ambiguous business challenges into actionable plans, documented solutions, and measurable outcomes.
  • Deliver finalized work products including financial models, accounting analyses, reconciliations, business cases, reporting tools, and process improvements.
  • Support acquisition diligence, financial integration activities, and strategic growth initiatives.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
  • Research, evaluate, and document technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition and acquisition-related accounting.
  • Develop and enhance reserve, accrual, and financial reporting methodologies.
  • Improve balance sheet account reconciliation processes and establish sustainable controls.
  • Support monthly close processes, lender reporting requirements, and audit-related deliverables.
Revenue Optimization & Billing Analysis
  • Analyze disputed, aged, and uncollected receivables to assess revenue quality and collectability.
  • Investigate billing discrepancies, payment disputes, deductions, and short-pay trends across customer accounts.
  • Partner with Operations, Billing, and Technology teams to identify root causes and implement process improvements.
  • Validate customer contract terms, pricing structures, and billing accuracy.
  • Quantify revenue risk and provide actionable recommendations to finance leadership.
Financial Analysis & Decision Support
  • Build financial models and business cases for pricing initiatives, capital investments, operational decisions, and new business opportunities.
  • Develop dashboards and performance reporting focused on collections, DSO, dispute trends, and revenue performance.
  • Prepare executive-level reporting and insights for senior leadership, board members, and lenders.
  • Analyze business performance and explain variances through volume, pricing, and mix analysis.
Process Improvement & Systems
  • Document and improve finance and accounting workflows to drive efficiency and consistency.
  • Participate in ERP, billing, and reporting system implementations, upgrades, and enhancements.
  • Identify automation opportunities within reporting, reconciliation, and analytical processes.
  • Maintain strong governance over financial data, methodologies, and reporting standards.

Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience in public accounting, consulting, corporate finance, accounting, or related project-based environments.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles, including revenue recognition.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and demonstrated financial modeling experience.
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as NetSuite and related financial platforms.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting findings to senior leadership.
  • Ability to influence outcomes and drive initiatives across departments without direct authority.
Preferred
  • CPA designation.
  • Public accounting, advisory, transaction services, or consulting experience.
  • Experience supporting private equity-backed or acquisitive organizations.
  • Background in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or related industries.
  • Experience with acquisition diligence, purchase accounting, and post-acquisition integration.
  • Exposure to SQL, Power BI, Domo, Snowflake, or similar analytics tools.
  • Experience supporting revenue assurance, credit risk, investor reporting, or business intelligence functions.
