DESCRIPTION

The Specialty Medication Management (SMM) Per Diem Pharmacist is responsible for helping to maintain clinical pharmacy service coverage for current SMM team member extended leaves and other budgeted PTO coverage such as sick or vacation leave. The pharmacist may flex up to 40 hours/week depending on service demands and leave requests. When covering for other pharmacists, the SMM Per Diem Pharmacist will be responsible for managing, coordinating, and facilitating medication optimization for patients within that service. The areas of coverage may include but are not limited to Gastroenterology, Dermatology, Rheumatology, Neurology, Allergy, Pulmonology, Endocrinology and Metabolism. The SMM Per Diem Pharmacist may also become involved in the development of new services or expansion of existing services within the organization, depending on needs. The SMM Per Diem Pharmacist will be responsible for provision and documentation of medications and medication-related services to patients according to the standards established by the UCSD Health Department of Pharmacy, as applicable. The pharmacist will serve as preceptor to pharmacy students and residents as assigned. The incumbent may also participate in Medical Center and Departmental committees and promote institution-wide medication use policy. Other activities may be assigned at the discretion of managers and supervisors.

Depending on experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at level PHARMACIST 1 PD or PHARMACIST 2 PD.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Doctorate of Pharmacy degree or equivalent clinical experience.

  • Registered Pharmacist - issued by the state of California (RPH).

  • Pharmacy residency or equivalent clinical experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Board certification (BCACP or BCPS)

  • Specialty medication management experience, especially in any of the following areas: Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Neurology, Allergy, Rheumatology

  • Clinical program development

  • Precepting learners (students and residents)

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $196,188 - $196,188 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $93.96 - $93.96

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
