Are you a hands-on manufacturing leader who enjoys developing teams, troubleshooting equipment, and driving production results? We're looking for a Production Supervisor to lead operations at our Bessemer manufacturing facility, a fast-paced environment that produces packaging solutions used by customers across multiple industries.
This is an opportunity for a leader who is comfortable on the production floor, enjoys mentoring employees, and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves to help solve problems when equipment or processes need attention.
Schedule
Day Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM This leadership role requires flexibility. Supervisors are expected to arrive before the start of the shift to prepare for daily operations and remain after shift end to ensure a smooth transition and communication handoff with the incoming team.
What You'll Do
As the Production Supervisor, you will lead production operations while ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and employee engagement goals are met.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop hourly production employees
- Foster a culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Conduct employee training, performance discussions, and development planning
- Build employee engagement and promote a positive work environment
- Support recruiting, onboarding, and workforce development initiatives
Production & Operational Excellence
- Oversee daily production activities to ensure schedule attainment and customer commitments are met
- Monitor productivity, efficiency, quality, and waste metrics
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve safety, quality, and production performance
- Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and workflow to maximize operational effectiveness
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards
Technical & Mechanical Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary production floor leader and technical resource for operators
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to minimize downtime
- Make basic machine adjustments and assist with equipment setup as needed
- Utilize hand tools and mechanical troubleshooting skills to support operations
- Coordinate preventive maintenance activities with the maintenance team
- Help identify root causes of equipment and process issues and implement corrective actions
No experience with our specific equipment? No problem. We are willing to train strong manufacturing leaders who have demonstrated mechanical aptitude and technical troubleshooting skills.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Supervisor, Lead, Team Lead, Shift Lead, or similar leadership role
- Strong experience leading production teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand how manufacturing equipment operates
- Experience using basic hand tools and performing basic equipment adjustments
- Ability to troubleshoot production and equipment-related issues
- Strong communication, coaching, and employee development skills
- Ability to work extended hours when necessary to support operational needs
Preferred Qualifications
- Plastics manufacturing experience
- Experience with automated production equipment
- Continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, or process improvement experience
- Preventive maintenance knowledge
