What to Expect

This role within the Low-Voltage Distribution Team focuses on mechanical design of complex wire harnesses and associated components and assemblies on Tesla's Vehicle and Data Center programs. Engineers on this team are responsible for the complete engineering life cycle, from high-level architecture decisions through design iteration and production. In addition to physical product design, responsibilities include new technology development focused on application of novel materials, processes, and manufacturing/assembly automation.

This role requires close collaboration across multiple subsystems with high-level involvement across entire platforms. Engineers should have the ability to work independently with sole ownership over multiple unique parts while collaborating closely with internal and external teams, and suppliers. Candidates must have evidence of using first principles to completethe full engineering design cycle, including hands-on prototyping, manufacturing, and assembly experience, with excellent application of Mechanical Design, Thermodynamics, Design for Manufacturing, Structures, Electrical Fundamentals, GD&T, and Materials Science.

Roles are available at multiple seniority levels based on experience.

What You'll Do
  • Design mechanical components and mechanisms for wire harnesses, electrical connections, conductors, and assembly integration
  • Develop innovative technologies and manufacturing techniques for enhanced performance
  • Conduct thermal and structural modeling of components and systems for optimization
  • Build prototypes and validate functionality through lab testing and real-world applications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineers to integrate electro-mechanical systems
  • Partner with reliability engineers to ensure design robustness and longevity through testing and validation
  • Work with manufacturing engineers and suppliers to transition concepts into high-volume production, including hands-on engineering trial and build support

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalentexperience
