Description
Under the direction of the Breast Imaging Manager and Medical Director, the Mammography Technologist performs high-quality diagnostic and screening mammography using a variety of mammography equipment. The technologist provides compassionate, patient-centered care while ensuring compliance with departmental, hospital, and regulatory standards. Essential Duties:
- Perform digital mammography examinations and assist the Radiologist with procedures as needed.
- Prepare patients for examinations, explain procedures, address questions and concerns, and ensure patient comfort, privacy, and dignity throughout the visit.
- Review imaging requests for appropriateness and coordinate examinations with other departments and services as needed.
- Follow established MQSA, quality assurance, quality control, and radiation safety standards, including maintaining accurate documentation and tracking required data.
- Maintain accurate records, ensure requisitions are complete, and appropriately document procedures performed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work area and monitor supply levels to ensure adequate inventory.
- Inspect equipment and report maintenance or repair needs; ensure equipment is functioning within established safety and performance standards.
- Follow infection prevention, health and safety, confidentiality, and departmental policies and procedures.
- Provide first aid and appropriate assistance in the event of a patient emergency until additional support is available.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, physicians, nurses, and coworkers while demonstrating a commitment to excellent customer service and the Health System's C-I-CARE standards.
- Float between UCLA Health Breast Imaging Centers and participate in rotating shifts as needed.
Salary Range: $55.38 - $73.00/Hourly
Qualifications

- CRT (R) (M) Mammography license - required
- BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross - required
- ARRT (M) license within one year of hire - required
- At least 1 year of experience in Breast Imaging - preferred
- At least 1 year of DEXA experience - preferred
- Breast Ultrasound experience - preferred
- Associate's Degree or Higher - preferred
- Ability to identify and recognize contraindications for exams. (Radiology Only)
- Ability to prioritize work, handling multiple tasks to completion, within the time allotted
- Ability to respond efficiently to expressed needs of referring services, physicians and patients
- Excellent interpersonal skills effectively and diplomatically with patients, visitors, hospital staff, physicians, and other
- Knowledge of medical terminology, with ability to distinguish between- types of procedures within the assigned department(s) and medical diagnoses
