Description

The Career Specialist will guide students and alumni along their vocational pathways and career planning. This role will provide career coaching, build strategic partnerships with faculty for career integration, engage with employers, and coordinate key career events such as job fairs and interviews. The specialist will also be a lead on managing the software platforms-including job boards and cutting-edge AI tools-to enhance student support.

Career Specialist Job Description



  1. Support students and alumni in various majors that are seeking careers in these two vocational pathways through career exploration, resume reviews, employer connections, interview preparation, and connecting with relevant work experiences
  2. Connect with faculty members for class presentations, partnerships such as embedded career development curriculum, and career events
  3. Coordinate career and graduate school fairs, mock interviews, and structured internship opportunities for the vocational pathways.
  4. Manage the general employer communication through the Handshake Job Board system, all employer emails, alumni relationships, and general job fairs
  5. Assist the centralized Career Development Center team in hosting Learning Commons Workshops, career Fairs, Interview Days, Admissions events, and New Student Orientations etc.
  6. Manage student workers and interns as needed
  7. Partner with the Federal Work Study Program Director to support students searching and applying for jobs on-campus
  8. Collaborate with Alumni Relations to include alumni for employer relationships within the vocational pathways.
  9. Collect and analyze career outcome information


Qualifications



  1. 2+ Experience working in Education, Human Resources, Business, Social Sciences, or Communications/Media.
  2. Demonstrated experienced collaborating with others such as academic departments, operational teams, and companies to achieve organizational goals
  3. Bachelor degree required. Masters degree preferred
