Job Description:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Under direct orders given by the MD or APRN, supervises self-administered client medication, depending on the specific clinical program's protocols.
  • Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks. Provides personal care, as needed (e. g., personal hygiene, toileting, laundry, meal preparation, safe eating techniques) as directed.
  • Provides frequent rounding on clients and address/report client needs to LPN/RN as appropriate.
  • Obtains vital signs, height, and weight for clients on the inpatient unit as directed by the LPN/RN.
  • Performs UDS/HCG testing adhering to CLIA standards.
  • Maintains accurate inventory of medicines and medical supplies.
  • Authorizes drug refills as ordered by the medical provider and telephones/faxes prescriptions to the pharmacy.
  • Schedules outside medical appointments for clients as ordered by the medical provider.
  • Obtains necessary medical information as requested by the medical provider.
  • Maintains current and accurate documentation.
  • Transports clients to clinics and hospitals within walking distance of facility as needed.
  • Administers First Aid and CPR, as needed.

EDUCATION

  • High School or GED
  • Desired: Certified Medical Assistant
  • Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or SRNA

EXPERIENCE

  • Preferred one year of experience in a medical setting, preferably in behavioral health.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Position has no unusual physical demands.
  • Frequent exposure to threat of bodily harm from clients/patients.
  • Normal work tasks may involve a high level of frequent and ongoing exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue.

Within the bounds of their respective job descriptions, all staff are expected to exercise principle-centered leadership, focused on customer service responsiveness, with a continuous quality improvement orientation. Additionally, all staff are expected to develop a working knowledge of and follow all policies and procedures related to safety management and other Joint Commission standards.
