Job Summary

The Tanker Driver safely transports bulk cement from supply terminals to designated company facilities and customer locations. This position operates commercial tractor-trailer and pneumatic tanker equipment; performs required vehicle and equipment inspections; safely loads and unloads product; completes required transportation and delivery documentation.

Main Responsibilities
  • Safely operate a commercial tractor-trailer and pneumatic dry-bulk tanker to transport cement and related materials along assigned routes.
  • Perform and document required pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the tractor, tanker, hoses, fittings, air lines, hydraulic systems, safety equipment, and other assigned equipment.
  • Identify and promptly report equipment defects, unsafe conditions, spills, contamination concerns, accidents, delivery issues, and maintenance needs.
  • Verify the product, quantity, destination, delivery instructions, and required documentation before leaving the terminal and before unloading.
  • Safely load and unload bulk cement while preventing spills, product loss, cross-contamination, equipment damage, and injury.
  • Connect and disconnect hoses and fittings; monitor pressure gauges, valves, air systems, and equipment throughout the unloading process.
  • Follow all customer, terminal, plant, and company traffic-control, loading, unloading, PPE, and site-access procedures.
  • Comply with applicable DOT/FMCSA requirements, including driver qualification, hours-of-service, vehicle inspection, cargo securement, and drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and orderly condition of the tractor, tanker, hoses, fittings, and related equipment.
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with customers, coworkers, supervisors, dispatchers, terminal personnel, and members of the public.
  • Report delays or circumstances that may affect safe and timely delivery and follow instructions provided by dispatch or management.
  • Fill in as Ready Mix Driver as needed
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
Skills
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL)
  • DOT Physical Card
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Drug and alcohol free
  • Vision must be acceptable for day and night driving
  • Willingness to work weekends and long hours during peak season
Physical Requirements
  • Able to lift or move up to 65 pounds
  • Able to stand, walk, sit, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
  • Able to work in adverse weather conditions
  • Able to work in wet and/or dry conditions and extreme heat and cold
