Position Summary
**WE ARE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION FROM ALL STUDENTS AWARDED WORK STUDY ONLY** Are you looking for an on-campus job that accommodates your class schedule? The University of New Mexico Dean of Students Office is seeking a self-motivated, friendly, reliable, and detail-oriented individual to assist the Basic Needs Specialist in the Lobo Food Pantry. The selected applicant will join a collaborative and dynamic team that is passionate about ending student hunger and its root causes. Our student staff can gain experience in addressing food insecurity and development of advocacy efforts. Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate computer in-take record of students attending the Lobo Food Pantry
- Assist fellow students in shopping, weighing and locating carrying supplies
- Answer questions regarding UNM food resources along with community food resources
- Stock shelves to provide sufficient choices are available
- Attend monthly meetings with the Basic Needs Specialist
- Unload and inspect bi-weekly food delivery palettes that arrive by truck load from Roadrunner Food Bank
Check expiration dates and condition of donations before stocking the shelves - Sanitize shopping baskets after usage
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Basic Needs Specialist
Minimum Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
Students with previous UNM work experience are preferred. A qualified applicant will have/demonstrate the following:
- An aptitude for active listening and holistic understanding of student issues
- Excellent written and verbal professional communication
- Superb customer service skills
- The ability to work independently and/or without supervision
- Strong time management skills; specifically, the ability to manage deadlines and be punctual
- The ability to work through problems with limited information and/or address issues by seeking information from various sources, including: UNM websites, external UNM departments, and professional staff
- A collaborative and approachable interpersonal manner
- The ability to follow specific instructions and standard operating procedures
- The ability to focus and maintain composure under pressure
- An interest in student services and food rescue
- Basic computer proficiency, specifically Microsoft Office
