Job Title: Medical Lab Scientist I

Location: 2211 NorthEast 139th Street, Vancouver WA

Duration: 3 Months

Schedule: 3 rd shift

8PM - 630AM will need to work every other weekend so weekday hours will change, HM is working out sched and will go over during interview.

Will also need to work holidays

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities are interchangeable within job titles of medical laboratory scientist (MLS), medical technologist or clinical laboratory scientist.
  • Work environment/department will be listed in requirement.
  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures. Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary. Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment



Requirements:

  • B-Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science

    OR

    -BS in Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science from an acredited college or university WITH atleast 1 year of training or experience in specialty in

    which testing will be performed. Such training must be equivalent to that received in a school of Medical Technology.

    OR

    -90 Semester hours from an accredited institution that include the following: 16 semester hours of Biology courses, 16 Semester ours of chemistry [must include atleast 6 hours of inorganic Chemistry], and 3 Semester hours of Math- along with having completed an accredited Clinical Laboratory training program or 1 year of documented Clinical Laboratory Training, or experience in the specialty that testing is to be performed.

    OR

    -Associates Degree in Medical Technology.
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
  • High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

    1 - Is this for and Medical Lab Technician [2 year MLT degree ] or Medical Lab Scientist / Medical Technologist [MLS, but HM would look at MLT with Cerst and 2 to 3 years hospital experience

    2- Please confirm if ASCP or AMT certification is required. [If required, are you open to eligible /registered candidates?] Either ASCP or AMT are required

    3- Are you seeking a generalist [proficient in testing in all Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Immunology] or are you seeking a Micro Lab worker with Molecular background? Generalist, working in hemotology, chemistry, micobiology

    4- What department will this technical position support? [Micro lab, Core lab, DNA sequence, etc.] Hospital Lab

    5- Is Blood Bank experience required for this role? No blood banking required

    6- Any particular LIS [Lab Information System] experience you would like to see on resumes? [Millenium, Cerner, Epic etc.]Envison and Data Innovation systems, HM said candidates using Epic Beaker system.

    7- Please confirm if color vision screening is required? YES
