Primary Purpose of Position
This position serves as an HR consultant for all matters associated with the recruitment, screening, and selection approval of Faculty, full-time and part-time. A primary responsibility of this role will be to provide professional consultation and training on recruitment policies, procedures, and best practices to campus managers engaged in the process of hiring faculty. This position will be instrumental in building our professional and support staff workforce and maintaining compliance to all federal, state, and university system employment policies.
The HR Consultant will work with the Director of HR for Academic Affairs and departmental hiring managers in planning, developing, and implementing recruiting strategies. This position will be responsible for the refinement of hiring processes and workflows to support operational efficiency. The position will evaluate and streamline processes and develop innovative recruitment strategies to create unique, high-quality candidate pools based on current and future University needs.

The Division of Human Resources ( DHR) provides comprehensive programs and services to support, attract, and retain high-performing faculty and staff at the University, as well as, to develop an interdisciplinary workforce to effectively serve the University in support of its mission.

HR for Academic Affairs is responsible for the infrastructure and business processes associated with employee recruitment, onboarding, position design and management, compensation alignment and career progression review of instructional and research faculty. HR for Academic Affairs team members consult with University departments/units concerning talent needs and strategies for staffing and improved organizational effectiveness. In collaboration with Academic, Budget and Planning office, this team provides oversight to all faculty HR matters, to include permanent faculty and part-time instructors. The mission is to assist in the continuous improvement of HR processes, procedures, and programs to deliver innovative and contemporary solutions consistent with the University's strategic initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree and two years of progressively responsible professional human resources management experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Knowledge of Federal and State employment and hiring laws and regulations. Prefer an additional two years' of experience in compensation and recruitment strategies. Experience working in applicant tracking systems (PeopleAdmin) preferred and Banner. Relevant professional certification(s) such as SHRM-CP, SHRM- SCP, PHR, SPHR, or related. Recruitment and compensation experience in a higher education setting.

Skills:
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, organizational and time management skills; competency in MS Office with particular focus on Word and Excel; ability to work with sensitive confidential data and information. Project management, conflict resolution. Adaptability to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands and dealing with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
Required License or Certification
Is this position eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. Hybrid (Employees are working part-time in the office to perform job tasks that require on-campus engagement, and the remaining time at home)
