As a Computer Hardware Support Technologist, you'll play a vital role in sustaining the IT backbone of Sandia's Nuclear Deterrence Modernization Programs. Your work will directly enable secure, efficient operations for classified and unclassified systems, ensuring our workforce has the tools and support to succeed.

Day-to-Day Impact:

• Technical Support & Operations:
  • Provide hands-on hardware/software troubleshooting for the New Mexico Based Nuclear Deterrence Organizations.
  • Manage procurement, setups, and upgrades for hardware/software systems.
  • Support Operational Technology Zone (OTZ) networks for real-time data access.
• Security & Compliance:
  • Assist with audit preparations and ensure property accountability.
  • Provide classified system reapplication support and kiosk maintenance.
• Collaboration & Innovation:
  • Partner with testers and security teams to address IT needs (e.g., IT upgrades, JIT requests).

$55,500 - $105,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience with IT hardware installation/troubleshooting (e.g., workstations, laptops, peripherals).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

• Knowledge of Windows systems administration (e.g., Active Directory, Group Policy, or scripting).
• Familiarity with software governance tools (e.g., patch management, license tracking, or compliance frameworks).
• Awareness of cybersecurity best practices (e.g., endpoint protection, vulnerability scanning).
• Understanding of classified system requirements (e.g., reapplication processes, audit support).
• Ability to translate technical details for non-technical stakeholders.

The Data Analytics and Information Technology organization supports the Nuclear Deterrence Modernization Programs. The Data Analytics Team is responsible for developing, maintaining, and coordinating tool development to ensure accurate data analysis is completed on qualification and certification test data for the W80-4, W87-1, and emerging Nuclear Weapon Programs, using highly coordinated Scrum/Sprint approach to execute tool development and resolve issues in a prioritized manner. The Information Technology team coordinates, deploys, supports and assists the Nuclear Deterrence Modernization Programs with the necessary information technology hardware, spanning from computing resources used in the office to items used in field testing.

This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.

Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
