Responsibilities
Business Development Community Liaison (Southeastern Virginia Territory) Territory/Region: Southeastern Virginia, the Peninsula, James City County, and Tidewater. Travel Requirement: The Business Development Commnity Liason position requires 50%-90% travel. Newport News Behavioral Health Center is a 132 bed intensive and highly structured residential treatment for psychiatric and behavioral health needs of adolescent males and females ages 7-17yrs. Newport News has an on-site certified school, therapists, and vocational programming. Newport News, VA is a beautiful seaside city, rich in maritime history and conveniently located to DC and other major North Eastern cities. Position Summary: The Business Development Community Liaison develops relationships at all levels of their customer base in a manner that establishes the business development representative as a credible, reliable, and valued resource to the customer/referral source. He/She is knowledgeable of the various components and benefits of residential treatment and acute care programs; and is familiar with the numerous and sometimes complex tasks of facilitating and supporting referrals through the admissions process. The Business Development Community Liaison implements the facility business development plan to meet/exceed referral and admission goals in assigned geographic territory by focusing on developing and managing productive, long-term referral relationships with existing primary and new referral sources. This position involves daily travel, including overnight travel; meeting with referral sources (new and existing) including hospitals/ER's, DSS', Court Service Units, psychiatrists, psychologists, other private providers, CSB's, schools, and other community resources. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years of age. Must have the following: Education: Bachelors in Marketing, Business Administration, Behavioral Science, or related field highly preferred. Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience directly related to mental health care marketing in hospitals or managed care environments. A strong client service background is mandatory. Has proven record in business development and sales. Ability to effectively manage time. Must exercise good judgment and have extremely high business ethics, be flexible, and adaptable, polite and customer service oriented. Accuracy is mandatory in all aspects of position. Knowledge in areas of marketing and business development in healthcare and in managed care required. Working knowledge of public relations, communications, media relations and event planning. Understanding of behavioral sciences and the objectives of mental health treatment in inpatient and outpatient settings in required. Excellent oral, written and analytical skills are mandatory. Must have strong public speaking skills and be able to present materials in a clear and concise manner. Superior interpersonal skills are necessary for successful performance in this role. Must be computer literate and be able to operate simple machinery necessary to perform duties such as a computer, copy machines, calculator, typewriters, VCR, camcorder, television, camera, overhead projector, etc. Must possess solid ethical standards in relation to all aspects of business development. Must demonstrate superior leadership abilities and direct a marketing teams, establish priorities and successfully plan, develop, implement, coordinate and manage marketing systems. Driver's License Required.
