Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. Bechtel will design and build Phase 1 of the Ohio One project, a total of 2.5 million square feet, including 600,000 square feet of cleanrooms. Construction will require as much steel as eight Eiffel Towers and as much concrete as the tallest skyscrapers. There will be over 4,000 modules to be fabricated, erected and tested in FAB building alone. Bechtel will strengthen future economic development in the region by partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Job Summary:
The Site Assembly Module (SAM) - Preassembly Field Engineer serves as the primary field engineering representative responsible for planning, coordinating, and supporting site preassembly activities required prior to final module installation. Reporting to the Area Lead Modules Field Engineer (ALMFE), the SAM Preassembly Field Engineer ensures module components, commodity packages, and supporting systems are properly received, inspected, assembled, tested, and prepared for final installation in accordance with project specifications, quality requirements, and construction schedules. This role works closely with Construction, Engineering, Quality, Startup, Logistics, Materials Management, Module Fabricators, and subcontractors to support efficient module execution and readiness for setting and completion activities. The position plays a critical role in identifying and resolving field issues early, coordinating work packaging and material availability, managing interfaces between commodities and modules, and ensuring preassembly activities are executed safely, predictably, and in support of overall project turnover objectives. The SAM Preassembly Field Engineer provides technical leadership within assigned preassembly work areas and supports the successful transition of modules from fabrication and delivery through final field installation.
