Technical Manager
Location: Remote or Hybrid in New York, NY
Schedule/Shift: Flexible; EST preferred for remote candidates
Pay: $75-$80 per hour

Job Summary
The Technical Manager will lead an engineering team through complex software integration projects while providing hands-on technical guidance and support. This role serves as a collaborative bridge between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex solutions into clear business concepts. The successful candidate will provide strong team leadership, oversee execution across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and contribute directly to technical solutions when needed. The ideal candidate is an experienced, collaborative leader who thrives in an Agile environment and is comfortable learning and applying new technologies.

Job Responsibilities



  • Lead, guide, and mentor engineering team members through complex software integration projects.
  • Provide hands-on technical support and participate in coding and technical problem-solving when needed.
  • Translate complex technical concepts, architectures, and solutions into clear information for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Oversee project execution across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Partner with engineering teams and business stakeholders to define requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
  • Support Agile development practices, including project planning, prioritization, tracking, and delivery.
  • Identify technical risks, resolve issues, and help ensure projects remain aligned with business and technical objectives.
  • Use project management and collaboration tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps (ADO).
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and continuous-learning team environment.


Job Requirements



  • 7+ years of relevant technical experience; 10+ years preferred.
  • Proven experience leading or managing engineering teams.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of coding and software development.
  • Experience with C# and Python.
  • Knowledge of web architecture and software integration.
  • Practical experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps (ADO), or similar project management tools.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong collaboration, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to balance technical responsibilities with team leadership and project oversight.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote or hybrid environment.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and approaches.


Education



  • Bachelor's degree required.


Work Experience



  • 7+ years of relevant technical experience required, with 10+ years preferred.
  • Previous engineering leadership or management experience required.
  • Experience delivering software integration projects in an Agile environment required.
  • Utility industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with or familiarity with OneTrust preferred.
