Medical Lab Technician

Job Summary

Daily workload involves blood/blood component processing, testing, labeling, storage and distribution in a timely manner to ensure product quality,

Performs quality control, calibration and maintenance activities as required by FDA and NJDOH regulations and AABB accreditation requirements,

Reviews, maintains and releases viral testing documentation, recalls and notifies consignees and regulatory bodies as needed

Essential Functions

1, Demonstrates the ability to organize and prioritize the daily workload involving blood/blood component processing, labeling, storage and distribution a timely manner to ensure product quality,

2, Completes blood/blood component preparation, processing, labeling, storage and distribution within the established turn-around time (TAT),

3, Able to minimize blood component processing delays involving leukoreduction and labeling of products i, e,accumulation of unlabeled FFP units

4, Facilitates shipment of blood/blood components in a manner that the blood/blood components shipped on time, all labels are correct, paperwork completed accurately and shipped according to specified temperature requirements,

5, Other duties as assigned including but not limited to performing medical interviews, donor registration, scheduling of donor appointments, computerized supply requisitioning, donor whole blood and donor apheresis procedures

Education

BS or Associates Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology required,

Experience

• 2-3 years experience in Blood Services Manufacturing Laboratory preferred,
• Licenses and Certifications,
• ASCP or NCA certification preferred,
