What to Expect Design Manager with a mechanical background for manufacturing infrastructure in Lathrop. You will manage the full design lifecycle of assigned projects, concept through IFC, including consultant/EOR management, design packages, permitting, and coordination across disciplines and stakeholders (manufacturing, construction, EHS, and other engineering teams). A mechanical background is required (HVAC, hydronics / CHW-PCW-CDA, process piping, mechanical yards, AHUs, and equipment utilities); you will still own the overall project design, not mechanical scope alone. You will own small-to-medium projects end-to-end, including cost, schedule, and deliverables. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to drive multi-disciplinary work under tight timelines. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports. What You'll Do Own the full design lifecycle of assigned small-to-medium projects from concept through IFC Organize and manage design reviews, packages, and deliverables (SOW, kickoff, 30/60/90%, IFP, IFC) Drive internal engineering resources and external EORs/consultants; review packages for Tesla standards, constructability, and schedule Coordinate across mechanical, structural, electrical, process, construction, and manufacturing stakeholders Take packages through permitting with the City of Lathrop and other AHJs, including comment closeout Manage RFIs, submittals, and field issues during construction Translate manufacturing and process (EQM) requirements into clear design scope Track schedule, consultant deliverables, and resource gaps; flag issues early What You'll Bring Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience 5+ years of professional experience on industrial or manufacturing infrastructure / MEP projects, with a mechanical systems focus Working knowledge of all engineering disciplines, with a proven ability to coordinate engineering resources to deliver IFP and IFC packages Ability to coordinate multiple disciplines and stakeholders without direct authority AHJ / permit experience preferred Strong communication and documentation skills; organized; works well in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment Familiarity with Bluebeam and CAD/Revit to review drawings and packages.
