Schedule:

• 4 / 10-hour shifts
• Start Time - 6 AM
• Must be flexible to work Monday - friday + occasional weekends as needed

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
• CDL or utility construction certifications are a plus but not required.
• Willingness to participate in on-the-job training and cross-training programs.

Experience Requirements

• Previous experience in horizontal directional drilling (HDD), HDD locating, underground utility construction, fiber installation, telecom, conduit installation, or related field work.
• Experience operating or assisting with directional drills, locating equipment, mini excavators, skid steers, Hydro Vac trucks, or similar construction equipment.
• Ability to read utility locates, identify underground obstacles, and work safely around existing utilities.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

• HDD locating experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with underground telecommunications, fiber optic, electrical, gas, or utility installation projects.
• Desire to learn both locating and drill operation responsibilities.
• Leadership potential with an interest in advancing into crew lead or supervisory roles.
• Team-oriented attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed.

Physical Capabilities

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and job site conditions.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physically demanding labor throughout the day.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move construction materials, tools, and equipment.
• Comfortable working around heavy equipment and on active construction sites.
• Ability to work extended shifts, overtime, and occasional weekends as project needs require.

Job Duties

• Locate and track horizontal directional drilling operations using HDD locating equipment.
• Assist with the operation of directional drilling equipment for underground utility installations.
• Help plan bore paths and safely navigate around existing utilities and underground infrastructure.
• Perform underground boring for conduit, fiber optic cable, telecommunications, and utility projects.
• Operate or assist with mini excavators, skid steers, Hydro Vac units, water trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
• Support cable installation, utility construction, and other field operations as needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and follow all company and industry safety standards.
• Work closely with a small construction crew to complete projects on time and within specifications.
• Cross-train in multiple areas of HDD operations with opportunities for career advancement and leadership development.
