The Boyce Research Group at the University of California, Berkeley School of Public Health, led by Dr. Sabrina Boyce, aims to build the evidence base to guide domestic and global approaches to promote gender and health equity, in partnership with the communities most impacted by inequity. Our research primarily focuses on sexual and intimate partner violence prevention, reproductive and sexual health, and upstream root causes of gender inequity.

We most often utilize experimental and quasi-experimental designs to provide evidence on what works to prevent violence, with a particular focus on community-, social norms- and policy-based approaches. Much of our work is conducted in partnership with local community partners, state government agencies, coalitions, and community members, many of whom guide the research questions that drive our work. We welcome team members from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences to strengthen and enrich the work our team produces.
