Summary MSOE invites applications for a full-time Learning Experience Designer - Emerging Technologies to join our CREATE Institute team. The Learning Experience Designer - Emerging Technologies leads the exploration, integration, and promotion of emerging technologies across MSOE's academic curricula. This role supports faculty in adopting digital tools and pedagogical approaches that enhance student learning, engagement, and accessibility. Furthermore, this position plays a critical role in transforming teaching and learning by ensuring MSOE remains at the forefront of technological innovation. By bridging pedagogy and technologies, the Learning Experience Designer - Emerging Technologies enables faculty to deliver dynamic, future-ready educational experiences. This role serves as a strategic partner in aligning educational technology initiatives with the CREATE Institute's mission to advance teaching and learning through collaborative practice, holistically furthering the MSOE Mindset. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Emerging Technology Strategy & Implementation Identify, evaluate, and pilot emerging technologies (e.g., AI tools, AR/VR, adaptive learning platforms, learning analytics, digital collaboration tools) relevant to teaching and learning. Partner with academic departments and IT to continuously improve procedures for integrating emerging technologies into departmental curricula and resources. Monitor trends and best practices in emerging technologies and translate them into actionable initiatives that enhance and improve the student learning experience at MSOE. Develop, curate, and maintain a repository of technology-enhanced teaching and learning resources (e.g., guides, toolkits, exemplars showcasing effective use of technology for teaching and learning). Ensure resources are pedagogically sound, accessible, and aligned with learning outcomes and institutional initiatives. Contribute to the evaluation of the effectiveness of technology integration initiatives using qualitative and quantitative measures. Faculty Development and Support Design, deliver, and assess workshops and other professional development opportunities that support faculty integration of emerging technologies into their teaching practices. Propose technical solutions to pedagogical design challenges through the thoughtful integration of emerging technologies. Provides consultations for faculty in the selection and effective use of emerging technologies in all instructional modalities. Collaboration and Partnership Partner with IT, key academic institutional stakeholders, and external vendors to ensure seamless implementation and support of technology in the learning experience. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to scale successful technology initiatives that impact teaching and learning. Collaborate with subject matter experts to embed emerging technologies into course materials and learning activities. Other Duties & Responsibilities Serve on institutional committees focused on emerging technologies, such as the AI Steering Committee and the Computer Users Committee. Travel to conferences focused on emerging technologies and higher education to gain insight into best practices (approximately two trips per year). Other duties as assigned by the Executive VP of Academics and/or Director of the CREATE Institute at MSOE This above list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time. Qualifications Master's degree required (Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field). Minimum of 3 years of experience in instructional design, faculty development, or supporting the integration of technology in learning environments. Experience with emerging technologies such as AI, AR/VR, or data analytics in education. Knowledge of pedagogical frameworks and instructional design principles (e.g., UDL, active learning, experiential learning). Experience designing professional development for faculty or adult learners. Familiarity with LMS platforms and digital learning ecosystems (e.g., Canvas, Panopto, MS Teams). Knowledge of copyright law, WCAG 2.1, and ADA compliance in an academic environment. Skills and Abilities Ability to adapt to a rapidly evolving technology landscape. Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Proficient in multiple technology platforms/tools, including Microsoft 365. Outstanding project management, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and organizational skills. Ability to make decisions independently and work with minimal supervision. Ability to maintain effective working relationships and function within a team. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships throughout campus and with external partners of MSOE. Why Join MSOE?
