Assistant Professor of Practice, Clinical Sexology

Widener University is currently seeking a non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Practice in Clinical Sexology who would work in the Center for Human Sexuality Studies and would report to the Director of the Center for Human Sexuality Studies and the Dean of the College of Health and Human Services. This is a 10- month position with teaching and service duties and non-tenure track status.

Center for Human Sexuality Studies (CHSS): CHSS is housed within the College of Health and Human Services, which also includes programs in Clinical Psychology, Physical Therapy, Social Work, Education, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant Education and Speech and Language Pathology. Offering Masters and Doctoral degrees, and a variety of professional development and continuing education programs, CHSS is a unique program nationally, providing professional and scholarly education in human sexuality with concentrations in sexuality education, sex therapy, public policy, and non-profit management. The program draws students from across the country and internationally. To make our programs available for working adults, we offer courses that usually meet on weekends and weeknights in online formats. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

Essential Duties:

• 3/3 load, teaching three graduate courses each Fall and Spring semester.
• Committee and other service to the institution.
• Doctoral dissertation advisement.

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Graduate student advising.
• Professional development (publishing scholarly work, presenting original research or practice recommendations, etc.).
• Overload teaching may be available.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned or directed to support departmental needs and align with the mission, values and goals of the Center for Human Sexuality Studies and Widener University.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:

• Doctoral degree in human sexuality or a related field. We understand that the field of human sexuality draws from a variety of disciplines. As such, we invite applicants to make a solid case in their cover letters as to how their training prepares them to join CHSS.
• Valid and current mental health license.
• AASECT Certified Sex Therapist with familiarity with ASSECT certification procedures and requirements.
• AASECT approved supervisor.
• Experience teaching at undergraduate or graduate level.
• Ability to teach in online formats.
• Highest degree from an accredited university or college

Preferred:

• Experience teaching at the graduate level.
• Experience mentoring doctoral students writing dissertations.
• A teacher-scholar with a developing or established. research/publication program in human sexuality. Our faculty are experts in the areas of academic research, clinical training, and educational methods and we seek a new faculty member who will strengthen our work in one or more of these areas.

• We offer online courses that meet on weekends and weeknights.
