Embedded Software Engineer Location:Owego, NY Job ID: #73235 Pay Range: $65-77 Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled C/C++ Software Engineer to join our team in Owego, NY. This full?time, onsite role operates in a classified environment and requires an active Full?Secret security clearance. The engineer will design, develop, test, and maintain both secure processing applications and high?performance embedded software for mission?critical platforms. Core Responsibilities * Design & Development Write, debug, and maintain modern C++ code for secure processing applications. Develop and sustain legacy codebases used across multiple projects. Implement low?level C/C++ for bare?metal and RTOS environments (e.g., FreeRTOS, VxWorks). * Embedded & Firmware Integration Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate software with microcontrollers, ASICs, and FPGA subsystems (Xilinx, PolarFire). Produce firmware, drivers, and hardware?abstraction layers for mission?critical platforms. * CI/CD & Build Automation Maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI) to streamline builds, tests, and deployments. Use build systems such as CMake or Make; script automation with Python, Bash, or PowerShell. * Quality & Compliance Enforce coding standards (MISRA C/C++, C++ Core Guidelines). Conduct peer reviews, unit?testing (GoogleTest), and maintain comprehensive test suites. * Documentation & Communication Create clear design documents, interface specifications, and maintenance guides. Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand?ups, sprint planning, retrospectives). Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge across cross?functional teams. Required Qualifications * Experience: 5-6?years of professional C/C++ development, preferably in embedded or real?time contexts. * Software Verification: 1-2?years of experience developing and executing software verification procedures, including creation of test plans, verification matrices, and compliance reporting. * Clearance: Active Full?Secret security clearance. * Technical Skills: Proficient in modern C++ (C++14/17/20) and C. Strong debugging skills with hardware tools (JTAG, SWD, logic analyzers). Version control expertise (Git). Ability to diagnose, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues. Desired Skills & Experience * Bare?Metal & Driver Development - Low?level programming for microcontrollers or SoCs without an OS. * Hardware Driver Development - Writing drivers for ASICs, FPGA interfaces, and peripheral devices. * Embedded C/C++ * CI/CD Pipelines - Building and maintaining automated pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc. * C# Development - Tooling, test harnesses, or GUI applications. * FPGA Development - Familiarity with Xilinx/PolarFire families, Vivado/Libero toolchains, Vitis/Softconsole Development Environments. * Scripting/Automation - Python, Bash, PowerShell for workflow automation. Education & Certifications * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). * Optional certifications: C++ Institute certification, Xilinx Certified, security clearance courses.
