Position Summary:
Manages and oversees the hospital's onsite supply inventory and outsources stockless inventory. Monitors performance of program vendors. Develops and implements standards for assessing and ensuring compliance with contract requirements. Responsible for selection, training, and supervising the supply dispatch and distribution personnel. Responsible for the planning, organization, and supervision of daily operations for the receipt, storage, handling, and distribution of received supplies and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversees receipt, storage, and distribution of supplies and equipment. Ensures maintenance of related records and documentation via electronic or manual systems. Develops, recommends, and implements methods and procedures to enhance timeliness and cost-effectiveness of services.

• Manages program for maintaining centralized inventory of critical supplies requiring on-site accessibility. Develops systems, procedures, and controls for maintaining, monitoring, and distributing adequate, cost-efficient quantities of needed items. Works with hospital departments to establish appropriate PAR levels of on-site supplies and ensure compliance with program.

• Responsible for operations of stockless inventory program. Works with vendors, buyers, and departments to coordinate distribution of supplies. Maintains records and documentation and prepares periodic management reports.

• Identifies equipment rental and intra-hospital resources and maintains resource log for dispatch staff. Guides in the acquisition of special needs patient care equipment. Collaboration with Biomedical, Environmental Services, Engineering, and clinical staff to assure patient care equipment needs are met.

• Develops, implements, and communicates quality assurance/quality improvement programs and internal policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with governmental and hospital health and safety regulations. Monitors compliance and collaborates with leadership to adjust procedures with staff input.

• Coaches and mentors supervisors and staff in day-to-day operational activities and assures compliance with all organizational policies. Reviews and evaluates policies/procedures, updating as necessary.

• Keeps abreast of new products, management tools, and industry trends and practices. Participates in teams to identify products and equipment for evaluation. Coordinates and facilitates clinical and non-clinical new product equipment evaluations. Helps develop evaluation protocol and analyze results.

• Assists department director in planning and preparing capital budget. Monitors and maintains capital and expense budgets for areas of responsibility, researching and resolving variances. Identifies, evaluates, and recommends cost-saving opportunities.

• Works with Finance department to maintain and update accurate capital asset records. Assures all new equipment is properly identified for asset tracking. Performs periodic equipment inventory. Manages the disposition of obsolete equipment by donation, resale, or disposal.

• Develops and monitors criteria for assessing quality of services provided. Maintains related documentation, identifies and evaluates trends and issues, recommends corrective measures, and prepares periodic management reports as required. Works with vendors as required ensuring compliance with contract terms and conditions.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
