The Tang Lab at the University of Virginia School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate with a background in cellular and molecular biology. Our research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of R-loop regulation, DNA-protein crosslinks (DPCs), and their contributions to genome instability in cancer and congenital human disorders. Current research interests include: R-loop biology and transcription-replication conflicts (TRCs) DNA-protein crosslink (DPC) formation, repair, and consequences Genome instability mechanisms in cancer and congenital disorders Development of novel tools for locus-specific chromatin and R-loop interrogation Our ultimate goal is to elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which R-loops and DPCs drive genome instability - with the potential to inform the development of novel therapeutics for related human diseases. QUALIFICATIONS Doctoral degree, preferably PhD in Cell Biology, Genetics and Genomics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related Biomedical Science discipline First-author publication(s) in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and prior experience with live-cell imaging, genomics, and/or protein expression and purification is preferred PHYSICAL DEMANDS This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. This is an exempt-level, benefited position. Postdoctoral employment is normally limited to an individual who has been awarded a doctoral degree within the previous five years.This is a 12-month appointment with the possibility of renewal (for an additional two, one-year increments)contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding.
