Director of Software Engineering
Purpose:
- Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking a missiondriven Director of Software Engineering to lead internal product development and provide senior technical direction on contract work when required. This role blends handson engineering leadership with strategic oversight, ensuring Valkyrie's internal platforms and customerfacing solutions meet the highest standards of security, reliability, and innovation.
- You will guide architecture, mentor engineering teams, and serve as a technical authority across both internal initiatives and external customer engagements.

Job Description:
- Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for internal product development.
- Architect, design, and oversee development of secure, scalable systems.
- Lead and mentor engineering teams, including senior and junior developers.
- Serve as a technical director on contract work, including customer interaction and solution guidance.
- Establish engineering best practices, secure development standards, and longterm technical roadmaps.
- Collaborate with leadership to align product strategy with mission and customer needs.
- Support deployment, integration, and troubleshooting across distributed remote environments.
Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent and at least 10 years of experience.
- Must be proficient in Go, Java, and/or Python.
- Must have proven experience leading engineering teams and directing complex software initiatives.
- Must have strong background in distributed systems, secure architectures, and productiongrade development.
- Must have the ability to operate autonomously and make highimpact technical decisions.
- Must have excellent communication skills and ability to interface with customers at a senior level.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with ReactJS or modern frontend frameworks, preferred.
- Cloud architecture experience (AWS, Azure, GCP), preferred.
- Containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), preferred.
- Prior leadership experience supporting defense, intelligence, or nationalsecurity programs, preferred.
Security Requirements:
- Must have an Active TS/SCI or SCIeligible and the ability to maintain it.
Travel Requirements:
- Minimal travel-less than 10%
- If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
- Able to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
- Communicating with others to exchange information
- Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds

Pay Range: $225,000 - $290,000 per year
