Shore United Bank is seeking a full-time Mortgage Banker to join our team. Mortgage Banker proactively develops residential mortgage business and promotes Shore United Bank mortgage products and services to meet established loan quality, customer service, and production goals.In this sales-focused role, the Mortgage Banker develops and maintains relationships with sources of mortgage referrals, including Real Estate professionals, Builders, community contacts, professional organizations, customers, and other centers of influence. The Mortgage Banker actively participates in business development, networking, and community activities to build a sustainable referral network and identify new mortgage lending opportunities.The Mortgage Banker responds to customer inquiries and referrals generated through personal business development activities and Shore United Bank business channels. The Mortgage Banker meets with prospective borrowers to understand their financial needs and homeownership goals, reviews financial and credit information, explains available mortgage products and programs, and assists customers throughout the mortgage loan process.The Mortgage Banker delivers an exceptional customer experience by maintaining a working knowledge of mortgage lending programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements; communicating regularly with borrowers and internal partners; demonstrating professional ethics; and complying with all applicable Federal and State regulations and Shore United Bank policies.

What You'll Do:

A detailed list of job duties includes (but is not limited to):



  • Develops and maintains productive relationships with Real Estate professionals, Builders, customers, community contacts, and other potential referral sources, while developing a business referral network with the goal of generating an increasing level of self-sourced mortgage business.
  • Prospects for new residential mortgage lending opportunities through networking, referrals, marketing activities, community involvement, and other approved business development activities, including participation in community and business development activities that promote Shore United Bank and homeownership.
  • Responds promptly to mortgage leads and referrals received from Shore United Bank business channels and external sources and works toward achieving individual mortgage production, loan quality, and other performance goals established by Shore United Bank.
  • Identifies opportunities to introduce customers to additional Shore United Bank products and services and makes appropriate referrals to internal business partners.
  • Meets with prospective borrowers to identify financing needs, objectives, and homeownership goals and obtains and reviews customer financial, income, asset, credit, and other information necessary to evaluate potential mortgage financing options.
  • Educates borrowers regarding appropriate Shore United Bank mortgage products, programs, rates, terms, and applicable lending guidelines and provides accurate and current information regarding mortgage programs, policies, and procedures using Shore United Bank training materials, reference tools, and approved resources.
  • Communicates applicable pricing and rate-lock information to borrowers in accordance with Bank policies and procedures.
  • Collects required loan documentation and ensures applications and supporting documentation are complete and accurate prior to submission for processing. Enters and maintains complete and accurate loan application information within the Bank's Loan Origination System (LOS) in accordance with established procedures.
  • Oversees the customer experience from application through closing, maintaining timely and professional communication with borrowers, referral partners, and internal business partners regarding loan status, next steps, documentation requirements, and anticipated timelines.
  • Partners effectively and works collaboratively with Mortgage Loan Processors, Underwriters, Closers, the Secondary Department, and other internal loan fulfillment partners to facilitate timely loan processing and closing, including providing requested information and documentation within established timelines and assisting in obtaining and satisfying outstanding loan conditions.
  • Proactively identifies potential issues or delays and works with appropriate internal partners to facilitate resolution.
  • Delivers a high level of customer service and professionalism throughout all stages of the mortgage process.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable mortgage lending programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrates compliance awareness by completing all required regulatory and compliance training on or before established deadlines and actively supporting policies, procedures, and practices that promote risk management, safety, and regulatory adherence.
  • Complies with applicable Federal and State lending regulations, HMDA requirements, Bank policies, and established mortgage lending procedures.
  • Successfully completes all assigned Mortgage Banker training and developmental activities.

  • Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the Bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g., Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, SAFE Act, etc.; ensures that the office and all personnel adhere to the same.
  • Participates in required training sessions, including training for compliance with BSA/AML policies and procedures.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:



  • Full-time.
  • Days of Work: Monday-Friday.


Required Education and Experience:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in mortgage lending, residential lending, banking, financial services, real estate, or a related sales environment preferred.
  • Experience developing customer relationships, generating leads, or conducting business development activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to learn and apply mortgage lending products, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated sales aptitude and ability to work toward established production and performance goals.


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field preferred but not required.
  • Relevant mortgage lending, banking, financial services, or sales experience may be considered in lieu of post-secondary education.


Compensation:



  • The is a commission-only role.
  • Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted hiring range based on factors such as relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, licensure requirements and/or skill level, and will be finalized at the time of offer.
