Bridge Design Engineer

Position Summary: Responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments. Assist with NBIS structural inspections and field investigations.

Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Prepares/performs and checks structural analysis, design plans, specifications, and estimates for bridge projects while working collaboratively with multi-discipline design teams
• Perform design computations
• Assist in designing projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools
• Assist with developing the project quantities for construction cost estimate.
• Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction
• Assistant for structural inspections/field investigations and develop related reports
• Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

• Perform other related duties as assigned

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from ABET accredited engineering program
• 0-5 years of experience in civil engineering or related field
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Written and oral communication skills

Preferred Experience

• Engineer-in-training certification

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment 50% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work will be conducted, 50% of the time, outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions and on uneven terrain or surfaces. Candidate must have the ability to perform inspections while bending, kneeling, or standing, and lift or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds as needed. Work will require the operation of access equipment and performing inspections at heights requiring fall protection.
