Director of Imagination Scholars

The Director of Imagination Scholars, a signature initiative of the Office of the Chancellor at North Carolina A&T State University designed to expand educational, professional, cultural, and global opportunities for talented first-generation students from rural communities and small towns.

Reporting to the Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff, the Director is responsible for the strategic development, implementation, growth, and assessment of the Imagination Scholars Program. The Director leads a comprehensive four-year scholar experience encompassing recruitment and selection, academic and student success, mentorship, professional development, domestic and international experiences, internships, community impact, and alumni engagement.

The Director serves as the principal leader and institutional advocate for Imagination Scholars, building strategic relationships across the university and with corporations, foundations, alumni, government agencies, community organizations, international partners, and rural communities. The Director is responsible for ensuring that the program achieves measurable student outcomes, maintains strong fiscal and administrative practices, attracts external support, and develops into a sustainable and scalable model for expanding opportunity for students from rural communities.

The Office of the Chancellor provides executive leadership for North Carolina A&T State University and is responsible for the overall administration, strategic direction, and advancement of the institution. As the University's chief executive, the Chancellor represents NC A&T to its Board of Trustees, the University of North Carolina System, and external constituents, advancing the University's mission as a public, land-grant, historically Black, doctoral research university and its aspiration to achieve Carnegie R1 status. Within the Office of the Chancellor, the Chief of Staff coordinates university-wide initiatives and supports a campus environment characterized by integrity, fairness, and professionalism. The Imagination Scholars program is administered within this unit.

* A master's degree in higher education administration, student affairs, public administration, business administration, organizational leadership, education, or a related field is required from an accredited institution.

* Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, student success, program management, experiential education, scholarship administration, student affairs, or a related field.

* Demonstrated experience developing and managing complex student programs and working collaboratively across academic and administrative units.

* Experience coordinating student travel, internships, mentorship programs, study abroad, or other experiential learning opportunities is preferred.

* Demonstrated experience managing budgets, tracking program outcomes, developing partnerships, and preparing reports for leadership.

* A doctoral degree in higher education, education, organizational leadership, or a related discipline is preferred from an accredited institution.
