Job Summary (Primary function)

This is a multi-faceted role with responsibilities including identifying and evaluating molecules to in-license or acquire, leading the technical review and due diligence required to evaluate the opportunities, creating comprehensive business opportunity assessments, assisting in the development of revenue forecasts and financial valuation models and assisting with other aspects related to BD&L activities, including contract negotiations. The position will also be responsible for presenting analyses to internal team members and senior management team members. This position reports to the Division Vice President & Head of Business Development.

Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)

• Identify pharmaceutical licensing / acquisition opportunities in key therapeutic areas of strategic interest, including oncology, hematology and dermatology.
• Conduct detailed scientific reviews of preclinical and clinical data, outline development timings and summarize data in the context of the competitive landscape.
• Coordinate scientific diligence teams comprising functional area experts to review various inlicensing opportunities and effectively interface between project teams and executive leadership
• Assist with creation of potential collaboration structures and determination of financial consideration
• Support the negotiation of term sheets and definitive agreements
• Lead the creation of comprehensive opportunity assessments which include:
  • Detailed analysis of scientific data
  • Development plan outlines
  • Analysis of market dynamics and competitive landscapes
  • Primary and secondary research findings
  • Target product profile and future product positioning
  • Detailed revenue forecasts and financial models that assess net present value
• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the fields of oncology, hematology and dermatology
• Participate in scientific and trade conferences

Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)

• Advanced science degree (M.S., R.Ph., Pharm.D., M.D., Ph.D.) and MBA or advanced finance experience
• 4+ years of related equity research, consulting, or industry experience in pharma/biotech with a record of accomplishment in business development
• Expertise in oncology is required
• Proficiency in building comprehensive opportunity assessments and presentations that incorporate all research findings and provide strong rational for business recommendations
• Experience building revenue forecasts and financial valuation models
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to align internal stakeholders and to externally represent Incyte as a partner-of-choice.
• Candidates with a strong analytical background, demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail coupled with a strong understanding of pharmacology will be preferred.
