The University of Arizona's department of Linguistics invites you to apply to the role of Program Coordinator. The successful candidate is responsible for curriculum and enrollment for all academic programs and administrative support for the Department of Linguistics. They will work alongside other staff and faculty to ensure all programs operate appropriately and provides additional program coordination support for small degree programs in the college as well. At the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS), we work to investigate ideas, transform social conditions, and tell unheard stories. | Duties & Responsibilities |
Curriculum & Enrollment Coordination
- Assist with registration of undergraduate and graduate students to ensure all students are registered for independent studies, internships, thesis, research, dissertation units preceptors and direct research
- Responsible for submitting new courses, modifications, and course deletions for undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Maintain and update schedule of classes.
- Monitor class enrollments, SCH, majors and support the administrative and business staff with the temporary teaching budget, teaching assignments and reporting.
- Submit department proposals for new majors, minors and certificates.
- Support directors of Undergraduate and Graduate studies and Undergraduate Studies Curriculum Committees.
- Maintaining student departmental files, course syllabi, teacher course evaluations, change of grade forms, etc.
- Maintain and process external award process.
Graduate Coordination
- Coordinate graduate student admission process to include processing applications, communication with applicants, admission letters and GradApp system management.
- Assist with TA and RA assignments this includes preparing letters, distributing contracts and performance evaluations.
- Coordinate written and oral comprehensive exams, PhD defenses and program assessments.
- Maintain graduate student files and handbook.
- Process external awards for Scholarships, Fellowships and Placeholders.
Administrative Support
- Attend relevant department meetings and provide support including maintaining meeting notes and agendas.
- Coordinate and assist department personnel on logistics for travel, recruitment, orientation and graduation events, committee meetings, orientations, speaker visits, retreats, and outreach activities.
- Assist staff with additional projects.
- Maintain and update departmental website, social media, video displays and promotional materials.
- Coordinate the faculty Promotion and Tenure process.
- Assist with reporting including Academic Program Review / Accreditation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge with higher education policies, practices, and administrative processes.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet applications.
- Skill in coordinating and communicating policies and procedures across university systems and departments.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience with linguistics, including coursework, class selection, and academic scheduling.
- Experience with Native American Tribes, community members, and Tribal leaders.
