The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is recruiting an internal candidate to fill this endowed professorship position.

The holder of the Yocha Dehe Endowed Chair in Pediatric Endocrinology will be a senior faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics whose specialty is in the area of pediatric endocrinology and diabetes and whose distinguished scholarship is nationally recognized.

The initial term of the Yocha Dehe Endowed Chair is for five years, with the option of reappointment per regularly established University procedures for endowed chair/professorship appointments (APM 191, UCD 191).

The endowment pay out will support the professor's efforts in research, teaching and service and further the mission of the Department of Pediatrics, the UC Davis Health System, and the campus. It is expected that the holder of the endowed chair will advance appropriately through the faculty ranks on the basis of his/her scholarly activities, teaching, university and public service.

Responsibilities of the Endowed Professor:

* Engage in teaching and scholarly activities focused in the area of pediatric diabetes including teaching courses to undergraduates, graduates and residents for the Pediatric programs in the School of Medicine.

* Coordinate the many resources at UC Davis Health to improve care for type 1 and type 2 diabetes in children through clinical research and public policy intervention.

* Conduct research on novel clinical programs to improve care of childhood diabetes and perform service to the Department of Pediatrics and the broader community in which it is situated.

* Provide leadership in the area of pediatric diabetes and be fully engaged in activities in the Department of Pediatrics.

* Enhance the academic and intellectual life of the campus as a whole.

We are recruiting an Associate or Full Professor with credentials, in the Clinical X Series. The candidate will be expected to participate in clinical care, teaching of medical students, residents and fellows, and research activities of the Department of Pediatrics and serve on certain departmental committees. The candidate will be expected to have a strong background in diabetes research, particularly research relevant to improving care/ outreach to underserved populations.

* M.D. or D.O.

* Successful completion of an approved pediatric residency training program

* Board certification in Pediatric Endocrinology

* Eligibility for a California Medical License

* Proven excellence in clinical care, research, education, and administrative experience is required

* The experience or ability to foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment

* Successful completion of an approved Pediatric Endocrinology fellowship program at time of hire
