Find your calling at Mercy! Coordinates and/or provides respiratory-related education to patients and clinic coworkers. Collaborates as a member of a Hospital- and Clinic-based team with Physicians, Quality, Care Management & Clinic leaders to evaluate and plan for the educational needs of the patient. Ability to effectively communicate with providers and co-workers to promote health behaviors identified for optimal disease management with patients and families. Serves as a clinical resource or consultant in respiratory related conditions. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. Position Details: Mercy South 10010 Kennerly Road St. Louis, MO 63128 Full-Time, 40 hours/week A COPD Educator (RT with COPD expertise) would: Provide structured inpatient education Reinforce inhaler and oxygen use Identify high risk patients prior to discharge Coordinate care with quality & case management and outpatient providers Minimum Required Qualifications Education: Graduate from an Accredited Respiratory Care program. Licensure: Must have a current license in the state of practice. Experience: Position requires at least 3 years experience. Certification/Registration: Registered as a therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care. Pulmonary Disease Educator Certificate or willing to obtain. Other Skills and Knowledge: Must be current in BLS. Strong communication skills are necessary. Preferred Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care or other healthcare- or science-related field. Experience: 5 years of experience, Patient Education Certification/Registration: AE-C Other Skills and Knowledge: Computer literacy, including the use of Microsoft Office Products. Why Mercy?
