Sr. Lead, Shopper-Consumer Insights - Hybrid

The Sr. Lead, Shopper-Consumer Insights serves as a strategic thought partner, leading high-impact initiatives that shape brand, category, and channel strategies for a local Big Box retailer. This role is responsible for integrating advanced analytics, behavioral insights, and market trends to uncover growth opportunities. The Sr Lead may lead complex research programs and collaborate with senior stakeholders to embed shopper-centric thinking into business planning and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Data management and analysis
    • Leverages and transform complex data sets, some of which are from proprietary retailer platforms (ex. Greenfield) into compelling and easy-to-understand visualizations and narratives
    • Integrate scan, point-of-sales, panel, customer sentiment, and geodemographic data with shopper data to create a comprehensive solution
    • Expert in insights best practices with the ability to identify evolving needs and actively develop solutions
    • Work independently to solve complex problems
    • Proactively applies experience and problem-solving skills to address complex business challenges and deliver solutions, enhancing the quality of deliverables across the team Viewed as a go-to resource with a specialty within a tool, system, or process
  • Client and customer engagement
    • Manages multiple internal team projects and deliverables
    • Directly manages a varying number of clients with mostly complex and strategic categories, relationships, and business requests and oversees a significant direct client portfolio
    • Cultivates and maintains high-level relationships with client partners, internal cross-functional teams and key stakeholders acting as a trusted advisor
    • Engages in the ongoing business planning process for each assigned client, focusing on shopper-based strategies and initiatives
    • Ensures that strategies and deliverables are aligned with clients' goals and expectations
    • Participate in regular touchpoint meetings with the retailer to share shopper trends and opportunities
    • Actively identifies opportunities for upselling and cross-selling
  • Presentation development and delivery
    • Creates insight-driven presentations with actionable tactics and strategies
    • Uses secondary data sources to find answers and develop presentation depth
    • Develops creative presentations focused on storytelling, flow, visualizations, headlines, and branding guidelines
  • Associate development:
    • Proactively conducts secondary research to find answers and share solutions with clients and peers
    • Actively participates in team building and best practice sharing to increase team effectiveness
    • Serves as a reliable and consistent resource for mentoring peers and sharing expertise to foster team development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 8 -10+ years' experience in shopper insights, consumer insights, marketing performance analytics, experiential analytics, or related CPG insights fields
  • Category management is a plus
  • Experience working within retailer systems and datasets
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Syndicated data
    • Shopper loyalty data, Greenfield
    • Shopper, category, and market insights
  • Proven ability to:
    • Translate insights into commercial opportunity
  • Strategic, entrepreneurial mindset
  • Strong CPG and retail experience
  • Proven analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, solve problems, and translate into action-oriented recommendations
  • Proficiency developing brand and category growth plans and initiatives based on shopper and category trends
  • Ability to lead a client through a customer-driven, shopper-based strategic planning and reporting against plan
  • Demonstrated consulting and influence skills with retailers, clients, and peers
  • Incorporates all available data sources including point-of-sale, scan, panel, shopper, and demographic data into a comprehensive solution
  • Complete understanding and application of principles and practices of category management including assortment, pricing, promotion, shelving, and shopper insights
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach other associates and serve as a best practice resource
  • Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet, document, and presentation software

Environmental & Physical Requirements
Office / Sedentary Requirements: Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment.
