Environmental, Operations and Construction (EOC) operates within HDR's Federal Business Group, capable of delivering services across all HDR business groups at any location. Our work is performed by our professional staff, scientists and engineers at remote sites, embedded in client office space or our own facilities. EOC delivers quality engineering, environmental, and construction management services at competitive prices.

In the role of Safety & Health Specialist I, we'll count on you to:
  • Assist in development of site-specific safety plans/programs in support of client safety requirements
  • Provide guidance, recommendations, and assistance to senior level military personnel, civilian supervisors, and employees concerning established safety methods and techniques
  • Apply your working knowledge of safety regulatory codes to include both federal and state such as OSHA and ANSI
  • Have an enthusiastic and positive attitude toward working with multiple client representatives on a wide range of tasks
  • Lean on your military experience and familiarity with safety risk management, incident investigations, and ammunition/explosives safety requirements
  • Have a working knowledge of company SH&E websites, processes and procedures such as use of company's incident reporting system, WorkCare and other SH&E department policies and guidelines in support of SH&E requirements within an office and field environment
  • Perform other duties as needed

This position is located full time at our client's site in New Orleans, LA.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to pass a DoD National Agency Check with Inquiry (NACI) conducted by the client and meet DoD entrances clearances.
  • Certification in one or more SH&E fields (Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Construction Health and -Safety Technician (CHST), Safety Trained Supervisor (STS)).
  • Previous SH&E work experience with construction, DOT, Oil and Gas, and/or A&E firms
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to travel occasionally
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years technical experience or educational equivalent (minimum of associate degree) in occupational health/safety related field
  • Extensive knowledge and application of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of OSHA & ANSI regulatory standards
  • Ability to instruct and facilitate Safety, Health and Environmental training courses
  • Team-oriented with exceptional written and oral skills in support of company SH&E requirements
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
