The Associated Press seeks talented, ambitious and diverse college students and recent graduates for its 2026 Elections Team. AsaVoteEntryOperator(VEO) for the Associated Press, you will play a critical role in the 2026 Election Year and possibly in later elections, inputting vote totals from stringers and websites in counties and cities nationwide, for newspaper, broadcast and internet customers worldwide. These are flexible, fully remote, paid positions that require certain skills, equipment and time commitment.

Who we are looking for:

1.VEOsaretask-orientedcriticalthinkerswithaneye/ear for accuracywhopossessgreatlisteningandverbalskills.

2.VEOsneedalaptopordesktopcomputerwithWindows 10/11oraMac(OSv11orhigher).

3.Operators need a cell phone to interface with AP's multifactor authentication security process and for direct communication with the AP staff, as needed.

4.Asecondmonitorispreferredbutnotrequired.

5.Operatorswillbepaidfortimespentforallthe followingareasofinvolvement in the General Election:

• Onboarding to the AP's proprietary election software.
• Pre-recorded training sessions to learn AP applications.
• Live training sessions to become proficient in AP processes.
• Rehearsal Day on Saturday (approx. 11am-5pm ET).
• Election Night (approx. 6pm-1am ET) and the days after for Extended Tabulation and Verification (if selected and available).

Compensation:

$17/hr. (Direct deposit or PayPal; will pay up to five hours to cover the time required for onboarding and training, which will be included with payment for the first election worked. Payment for other times will be based on the hours worked.)
