About this Role - Recruiter

We are looking for a talented Recruiter who has a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for finding engaging and qualifying talent for M. J. Electric. This role works as a staffing agency recruiter inside the company: it runs targeted, proactive sourcing for hard-to-fill and recurring positions, builds talent pipelines, and hands qualified, interested candidates to the Talent Acquisition Specialist

What You'll Do

- Partner with the Talent Acquisition Specialist and hiring managers at intake to understand position requirements, location, urgency, and must-have skills, then build a sourcing plan for each priority requisition.

- Research talent markets, competitors, candidate availability, and compensation trends for craft, field, technical, and leadership roles, and share findings with HR and operations leaders.

- Proactively identify and engage passive and active candidates through LinkedIn Recruiter, boolean and X-ray searches, professional networks, referrals, past applicants in the ATS, and direct outreach by phone, text, email, and social media.

- Write personalized outreach that presents M. J. Electric's culture, safety record, training, and career growth.

- Build and maintain warm talent pipelines for critical and recurring positions, and keep pipeline candidates engaged until a role opens.

- Run employee referral and former-employee outreach, and re-engage strong past candidates.

- Build relationships with trade schools, technical colleges, apprenticeship programs, veteran transition and workforce organizations, and industry associations to source talent.

- Attend career fairs and community events scheduled by the Talent Management Coordinator, and help the Coordinator with early-talent outreach when needed.

- Hold a brief sourcing conversation with each prospect to confirm interest, availability, location, work authorization, pay expectations, and basic fit.

- Hand off qualified, interested candidates to the Talent Acquisition Specialist through the ATS with a clear candidate summary, and stay available to the candidate and hiring manager as needed.

- Record every sourced candidate and every touchpoint in the ATS so sourcing data is complete and reportable.

- Track sourcing metrics by channel (response rate, qualified handoffs, sourced hires, pipeline size) and report them to the Talent Development Manager on a regular schedule.

- Share candidate feedback and market insight with the Talent Acquisition Specialist to refine searches and improve offers.

- Provide support for other Human Resources functions and special projects as assigned.

What You'll Bring

- Strong knowledge of sourcing strategies, boolean search, and passive-candidate recruiting.

- Ability to sell the organization's strengths and persuade candidates through cold outreach.

- Excellent written and verbal communication and relationship-building skills.

- Ability to build and sustain relationships with candidates, referral sources, schools, and community partners.

- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple searches and a large candidate list at once.

- Ability to operate independently with solid decision-making skills.

- High level of discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.

- Working knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and recruiting CRM and sourcing tools.

- Ability to analyze sourcing data and make data-driven recommendations.

- Knowledge of EEO, ADA, OFCCP, and fair hiring practices.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related business applications.

- 2-4 years of sourcing or recruiting experience (agency, corporate sourcing, or a sales role with a similar outreach focus).

- Recruiting/Sales/Marketing background highly desired.

- Construction, utility, energy, or skilled-trades recruiting experience preferred.

- Ability to travel occasionally to regional offices, career fairs, recruiting events, and educational institutions.
