Job Summary

Provides in-person synchronous and blended asynchronous instruction for adults to successfully acquire English language comprehension, fluency, and civic engagement proficiency. Develops students' academic skills needed to transition to college or career pathways and achieve shared workforce system outcomes for employment rates, median income, and postsecondary transitions. Follows required web-based curriculum contextualized to in-demand industries, MCCCD fields of interest, and Arizona Adult Education standards for instruction. Utilizes and integrates technology in the classroom to develop students' digital literacy skills. Engages in student assessments, progress data review, and attendance record maintenance to guide instruction, retain students, and meet grant program requirements. Maintains professional learning requirements for the Arizona Adult Education Certification.

Essential Functions

70% - Instructs adults in ELAA classes using blended learning strategies; teaches all English skills - reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, and civics; contextualizes instruction to in demand industries and MCCCD fields of interest
10% - Engages in student assessment and reviews student progress data to inform instruction; utilizes student data to set academic goals; maintains knowledge of career pathway opportunities, regularly shares career training information with students to support participation in integrated education and training programs, and completes student referral forms for scholarship opportunities
10% - Maintains attendance records for multiple student activities including synchronous instruction, learning management system usage, and asynchronous instruction; supports roster maintenance; completes other documents as required by the program
10% - Engages in job-embedded professional learning communities and position-specific training requirements to maintain Arizona Adult Education Certificate requirements and meet annual program goals; performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

A. Bachelor's degree in Education or related degree
B. Experience teaching in one or more of the following areas: Language Arts, Reading, English, ESL
C. Must possess or have the ability to obtain an Arizona Adult Education Certification within 60 days of hire
