Finance Administration Job Summary

The Productivity and Benchmarking Administrator ("Administrator) partners with financial and operational leaders to design, implement, and maintain Denver Health's benchmarking and productivity systems to ensure systematic measurement of performance to target.
The Administrator ensures data quality and integrity in these decision support systems. Develops meaningful analyses for leaders and produces scheduled reports on time. Continually evaluates processes, anticipates opportunities and challenges, identifies areas for improvement and makes data-driven recommendations.
The Administratory does not typically supervise staff but may provide work direction to individuals supporting their projects and systems.

Essential Functions:
  • Productivity Systems and Process Administration:
    * Oversees and continuously improves standard reports on non-provider productivity, provider productivity, and labor variance to target.
    * Develops and refines internal productivity standards that align with industry benchmarks and the workforce governance committee's labor strategy.
    * Develops, implements, and evaluates processes to improve productivity and assists managers in meeting their targeted labor expenses, including the reduction of premium time.
    * Acts as an internal "consultant" to management regarding productivity by utilizing a detailed understanding of interrelationships between staffing and volumes and by communicating industry best practices.
    * Through analysis, provides senior Administration with data to help ensure maximum employee productivity, reduction in labor costs, and alignment of labor decisions with strategic initiatives.

  • Benchmarking Systems and Process Administration:
    * Oversees the quarterly and monthly submissions of Hospital benchmarking data.
    * Extracts and consolidates data from multiple benchmarking systems into clear and concise internal decision support reports.
    * Performs detailed data "mining" on benchmarking data to identify financial improvement opportunities and communicates opportunities to appropriate leaders.
    * Assists operational departments in identifying and analyzing useful information from the benchmarking system that supports continuous financial improvement.

  • Facilitates organizational Workforce Governance Committee (WFG) on behalf of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Finance Officer (Co-Chairs) by assisting in the refinement of committee charter and strategy, preparing reports, and managing agendas. (10%)
  • Participates in monthly hospital-wide financial performance reporting and supports development of annual operating budgets. (10%)
  • Develops, deploys, and refines leader education on the productivity and benchmarking systems. (5%)
  • Partners across all levels of leadership to incorporate best practices in benchmarking and decision support into organizational standard operating procedures, including expansion requests, strategy development, & annual budgeting processes. (5%)
  • Contributes to the planning, improvement, and automation of decision support processes, and systems. (5%)
  • Supports Senior Management on an as requested basis in the implementation of special projects and other business initiatives including design and distribution of ad hoc reports. (5%)

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, finance, science or engineering Required and

Work Experience:
  • 4-6 years years in data analytics, decision support or process improvement required, preferably in a healthcare environment. Required

Licenses:

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Exceptional ability to gather, understand and utilize data to inform decisions and make recommendations.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to compile, categorize, calculate, audit, and/or verify data.
    • Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to manage several projects simultaneously while remaining flexible with changing priorities.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to accomplish goals.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to summarize detailed information in an organized, concise manner.
    • Strong ability and comfort in presenting data, recommendations, and proposals to a wide variety of audiences and levels of leadership (both written and verbally).
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office specifically Excel.
    • Knowledge of relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server)
    • Familiarity with Epic Software is preferred
