Job Summary The Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services is currently seeking a Behavioral Health Therapist. This therapist provides dynamic, integrated, and effective care to persons impacted by mental health and substance use disorders in our Assertive Community Treatment Program (ACT). ACT is an evidence-based model for people with high service needs who frequently experience psychiatric hospitalizations, incarcerations and/or episodes of homelessness. We are seeking a therapist that is specifically skilled at working outside of a clinic to engage people in recovery where they are willing to engage. ACT services are provided 365 days per year. In this role, you will provide: Assertive community treatment by meeting individuals wherever they are willing to engage in recovery (street outreach, shelter, drop-in center, tent encampment, library, or other locations throughout Loudoun County). Conducting intakes as well as providing ongoing care Assessment and evaluation, diagnosing, individual & group therapy. Assessment for an Emergency Custody Order, presentation to the Magistrate, crisis intervention and stabilization, interagency consultation, and coordination of treatment services. Support during all aspects of inpatient psychiatric hospitalization (getting hospitalized voluntarily, collaborating with Emergency Services, continuity of care while inpatient and participating in discharge planning, up to and including transportation). Support during all aspects of incarceration (court appearances, continuity of care while incarcerated and participating in release planning, up to and including transportation). Assessment and referral for individuals in need of detoxification and/or residential treatment services, and monitoring/coordination of services with treatment vendors Responsibilities include completion and maintenance of all clinical records and documentation according to federal, state and agency policies and procedures. Demonstrates the ability to function as a member of a busy, mobile clinical team utilizing advanced clinical skills. Will be required to transport individuals in program vehicles. ACT is a 365 per year program and as such this position requires days, evenings, weekends, and holidays work hours. This position is eligible for a $6,000 hiring bonus in accordance with the County's Hiring and Retention Bonus Program. Hiring salary will be commensurate with experience. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree; license eligible within one (1) year of hire or possess professional licensure through the VA Department of Health Professions Board as a: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC); Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT); Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP). One (1) year of professional experience working with individuals who have a mental health and/or substance use diagnosis, which may include internship experience. Previous experience with an ACT team and bilingual (Spanish-speaking) is preferred. Job Contingencies and Special Requirements Special Requirements: Must possess VA clinical licensure or licensed-eligible through the VA Department of Health Professions Board as a: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC); Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT); Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP) Contingencies: Employment is contingent upon successfully passing pre-employment background check to include fingerprinting, credit, NCIC, DMV and TB test. Must have a good driving record and a valid driver's license in Virginia or regional state of residence.
