Position: Vascular Technologist

Department: Vascular Lab

Schedule: Per Diem

POSITION SUMMARY:

Boston Medical Center seeks a full-time Vascular Technologist for our IAC Accredited Vascular Lab.
The Vascular Team closely works with 4 Vascular Surgeons, 2 Cardiologists, 2 Neurologists, Fellows/Residents, and 6 Vascular Technologists.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:


  • Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree in Vascular Tech/Ultrasound, or BS/AS in any allied health/science discipline plus a certificate from an accredited vascular ultrasound program.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Required Licensure/Certifications


  • Certified through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), or ARDMS (RVT) Registry within 24 months.


EXPERIENCE:


  • (2) years of experience in vascular ultrasound technology and non-invasive vascular exams preferred; however, a motivated recent graduate would be considered.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:


  • The vascular ultrasound technologist will perform the full spectrum of vascular studies: Peripheral Vascular Lab services provided by technologists include Non-Invasive Carotid Studies, Arterial Duplex Studies (AVF, Graft Surveillance, Stent Surveillance, etc.) Venous Duplex Studies, Transcranial Doppler Studies, Renal Artery Studies, Arterial Physiology studies and Vein Mapping studies


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

Responsibilities



  • Performs all diagnostic vascular exams with the ability to recognize between normal and abnormal findings: Spectrum of exams include Arterial, Venous, Extracranial, Intracranial, Visceral, Physiologic and Intra-Operative Procedures.
  • Performs vascular sonographer duties that meet departmental needs including preparing preliminary exam reports and entering them in the vascular lab database of EPIC and Apollo.
  • Able to communicate critical test results to appropriate providers and interacts with providers to ensure appropriate exams.
  • Illustrate an understanding of CPT billing codes.
  • Exhibits a thorough knowledge of and assists in the maintenance of the policy and procedure manual including exam protocols.
  • Proficient with all lab equipment and ensures equipment failures are reported and documented. Learns new machines with minimal oversight and ensures all equipment and supplies are available.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance and quality control programs. Plans and executes improvement efforts and resolves issues.
  • Participates in training of junior vascular technologists, students, residents, and fellows as well as presentations in staff meetings.
  • Participates in research projects including clinical trials within the Vascular Surgery Department.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
