The Salvation Army Mission Statement:

BASIC PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to perform daily janitorial services and provide general maintenance at assigned facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Maintain cleanliness of corps buildings including but not limited to offices, restrooms, classrooms, chapel, kitchen and food pantry
  2. Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of the vehicle fleet
  3. Maintain cleanliness of parking lot, lawns and walkways
  4. Conduct weekly lawn service at assigned facilities
  5. Conduct minor facility and equipment repairs
  6. Maintain inventory of janitorial supplies and maintenance equipment
  7. Setup and prepare rooms for program usage
  8. Transport food donations and equipment/supplies as assigned
  9. Assist with monthly and quarterly safety checks
  10. Assist with seasonal projects including but not limited to food drives, toy drives, Red Kettles
  11. Other duties as assigned


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS



  1. Ability to speak and write the English language at a high and professional level
  2. Minimum one (1) year of building maintenance and/or janitorial service preferred
  3. High degree of confidentiality
  4. Able to endorse and promote The Salvation Army's mission
  5. Computer literate, in Windows environment (Microsoft Office), Word, Excel and Outlook preferred
  6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  7. Excellent and professional telephone etiquette and presence
  8. Excellent organizational skills
  9. Strong ability to utilize a high level of time management and handling multiple tasks


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS



  1. High school diploma
  2. Must possess ServSafe Food Handler certification
  3. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
  4. Must be 21 years or older
  5. Authorize The Salvation Army to add name to the CA DMV Pull Notice Program
  6. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training
  7. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check to include a DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
  2. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
  3. Ability to reach overhead
  4. Ability to operate telephone
  5. Ability to lift up to 50-70 lbs.
  6. Ability to operate a computer
  7. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
  8. Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer.
