Post Doctoral Researcher to pursue specialized research training, education and experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences; plans, designs and executes experiments of considerable scope and complexity in the assigned research lab; collects and analyzes data for research sponsored by appropriate agencies and Institutions; identifies and selects problems to be studied; develops and troubleshoots new experimental techniques and protocols; attends research seminars; contributes to manuscript preparation and supports technical writing; participates in preparation of grant applications for extramural funding; performs additional duties as assigned. This post doctoral scholar position will support the activities of a one-year Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation (BWC) Workforce Safety Innovation Center (WSIC) grant. This ambitious and innovative project will address the safety needs of home healthcare workers by developing novel virtual educational technologies to train hazard recognition and management in client homes. This post doctoral scholar will be a part of an interdisciplinary team consisting of clinical healthcare researchers, engineering researchers, digital technology developers, business experts, and home healthcare worker representatives. This project employs mixed-methods participatory iterative human-centered design approaches to collect quantitative and qualitative data examining virtual program usability, implementation, and learning factors. This post-doctoral scholar will support the PI in executing the studys research activities: participant recruitment and enrollment; data collection, management, and analysis; and manuscript and presentation preparation. The post doctoral scholar will also support the PIs lab, the Transdisciplinary Rehabilitation Extended Reality (T-REX) Lab, by assisting in managing lab activities, students, and pursuing other funding opportunities. For the specific responsibilities of this grant, the post-doctoral scholar will assist with recruiting participants, scheduling, and will be trained to do data collection, data entry, and data analysis. In addition, the post-doctoral scholar will support data management in REDCap and Dedoose and complete focus group/interview transcriptions and data verification prior to upload into Dedoose. They also will coordinate blinded assessments of the simulated environment, communicate with participants about logistics re: parking, directions, video conferencing if needed, and other similar organizational responsibilities. |
