Job Description

The University of Missouri - School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry is seeking a full-time faculty Division Chief for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Must be BC/BE in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry.

Responsibilities include:

Oversight of the clinical and administrative activities of the department to optimize the provision of high quality, efficient, and effective care and child health advocacy.

Integration of the division into the overall functions of the organization in matters affecting patient care including personnel, supplies, special regulations and facilities.

Leadership in strategic planning regarding the provision of child psychiatric and behavioral services at School of Medicine leadership. Serves as the head of Child and adolescent psychiatry and works as a team member with faculty, nursing, and administrative leadership.

Development and implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support the division and department.

Maintaining a sufficient number of qualified and competent staff to provide care.

Monitoring the professional performance of all individuals who have clinical privileges in the division.

Assuring mechanisms are in place to involve the members of the division in monitoring and evaluations activities including the identification of important aspects of care provided by the division, the identification of indicators to be used to monitor quality of care, and the evaluation of the care provided.

Periodic review of care to draw conclusions, formulate recommendations and initiate actions, and communicating to appropriate members of the division, department, and hospital findings, conclusions, recommendations and actions taken.

Development and maintenance of a meaningful quality programs.

Monitoring the orientation and continuing education of all persons in the division.

Monitoring the teaching, education and research programs in the division.

Assisting in the preparation of annual reports and budgetary plans pertaining to the department in concert with the leadership.

Integration of the Division into the overall functions of MUHC Hospital and Department of Psychiatry in matters affecting patient care including personnel, supplies, special regulations and facilities.

Provide clear vision and leadership in all aspects of the academic mission.

Additional responsibilities include providing supervision and instruction to Psychiatric residents and Medical Students, and to become involved in other aspects of academic life, including research collaboration and serving on academic committees.

University Hospital: Hospital is level 1 Trauma care center, featuring a regional psychiatric hospital and a leader in the provision of tele-psychiatry services, including consultations to hospital emergency departments and primary care practices. MUPC l offers innovative programming in the form of a behavioral home health, integrated behavioral healthcare in primary care practices. Other available services include individual therapy, intensive outpatient treatment, ECT, ketamine, inpatient psychiatric treatment and an observation unit. The hospital provides a substance use disorder treatment program, case management services, and other outpatient mental health services for the citizens of Missouri.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: applicants must be Board Eligible/Board Certified in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry.

Candidates will be evaluated on: A background in evidence-based treatment modalities, with training in DBT, CBT and/or MI highly desirable.
