JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Center for Childhood Obesity Research (CCOR) in the College of Health and Human Development at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a Biostatistician at the University Park campus. The overall mission of the Center for Childhood Obesity Research (CCOR) is to conduct interdisciplinary research that contributes to the evidence base needed to inform successful childhood obesity prevention programs that can then be disseminated to public health and clinical practice audiences. This position will contribute to several ongoing research studies. Responsibilities:
Education and Experience Requirements This position will be filled as an Advanced Professional or Senior Professional, depending on the final applicant's qualifications and experience. Requires a Bachelor's Degree plus three years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience for an advanced professional. Additional education and experience are required for higher-level positions. Preference will be given to those with degrees in a biostatistics-related field (statistics, biostatistics, public health, psychology, human development, data science, or related discipline). Candidates must demonstrate proficient and comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures related to this position. Key skills include advanced statistical skills, proficiency with statistical software, excellent communication skills (both written and oral), effective decision-making to manage multiple competing priorities and perspectives, meticulous attention to detail, a high level of self-direction, motivation, and personal accountability, and an ability to identify and solve problems independently. Desired Qualifications Proficiency with SAS statistical software and experience with behavioral, longitudinal and/or family-based research are preferred. Background Check Requirements: This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. Other Information: This is a limited-term staff appointment, funded for one year from the date of hire, with the possibility of renewal over five years.
